Fat is Good.

Fats are an area of confusion for so many people. We have lived through the no-fat craze, the low-fat craze, and even today many people are guided to reduce the amount of fat they eat.

However, much more important than reducing or eliminating the level of fat you eat, is understanding what fats are "good for you", "not so good for you", and eating the "good fats".  Excerpt from Melanie Albert's book,

Good Fats.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Wild Alaskan Salmon, Organic nuts, Flax seeds, Nut and Seed Oils
  • Monounsaturated fats: Organic extra virgin olive oil, Olives, Avocados
Bad Fats.
  • Saturated Fat: Fatty meats, un-skinned poultry, butter, whole milk, cheese from whole milk
  • Trans fats: Baked goods, processed foods, margarine
